Sorted before you look.
SortWerk files your Gmail into your own labels, right in your mailbox. Whatever it is not sure about goes to a folder of its own for you to check. You keep reading in the mail app you already use, on your phone and on your computer.

Gmail today. Outlook is in progress.
For Gmail and Outlook.
1Your own labels, right in Gmail. SortWerk keeps no copy of your mailbox.
2Every decision comes with its confidence.
3Below 60 % the email goes to «Unsure», so you can look at it yourself.
How SortWerk works
For every new email, SortWerk reads the sender, the subject and the first lines and picks the folder that fits best. When SortWerk is unsure, it does not drop the email just anywhere but into «Unsure». You set that threshold yourself; it starts at 60 %.

What you decide
SortWerk sorts by your rules, not by a ready-made scheme.
The folders and what goes in them
You pick existing Gmail labels or create new ones, nested labels too, and write one sentence for each. The more precise the sentence, the better SortWerk gets it right. A template with eight common folders helps you start.
What SortWerk never touches
Senders, domains or whole labels on the exclusion list stay as they are. Your bank or your management, for instance.
Preview first, then apply
When you sort existing emails, SortWerk shows a preview first. Nothing changes in Gmail until you apply it. Every run is logged and can be undone, email by email.
How much SortWerk reads
By default the sender, the subject and the short snippet Gmail shows itself. With «Minimal» the snippet is left out. With «Detailed» SortWerk reads up to 1,500 characters of the email text, meant for emails with vague subjects. It strips links, addresses, numbers, quotes and signatures first. Only you can switch this on, with your explicit consent.
Whether the email stays in the inbox
By default SortWerk only sets the label and the email stays in the inbox. If you like it tidier, sorted emails are archived. Uncertain ones always stay in the inbox, with spam detection switched on, spam always goes out. When you mark an email as spam in Gmail yourself, SortWerk sends future emails from that sender straight there. You set every threshold yourself.
What SortWerk may do
When you sign in, Google asks for access to Gmail. Here is what SortWerk needs it for and what it never does with it.
-
Google sign-inName and email address
- What for
- Your SortWerk account. There is no separate password.
- What never happens
- No sharing with third parties, no advertising.
-
Read and modify Gmailgmail.modify
- What for
- Read the sender, subject and first 200 or so characters, more of the text only in «Detailed» mode. Create, set and remove labels. See which emails you mark as spam yourself.
- What never happens
- SortWerk deletes no email and sends none. It moves detected spam to the Gmail spam folder, which Gmail empties after 30 days. It keeps no copy of your mailbox.
-
Sorting with JevTypeSafe AI
- What for
- Sender, subject and snippet go to the Jev model for sorting. In minimal mode only sender and subject. Only if you explicitly switch on «Detailed», also the start of the email text, without links, numbers and quotes.
- What never happens
- No attachments. Never more than the short snippet without your consent.
-
Stored at SortWerk
- What for
- The technical ID of every processed email, the label set and the confidence. That is what the log and undo are built from. Plus your lists: exclusions, spam senders and sender rules.
- What never happens
- No subject, no content. Senders only if they are on your lists.
-
Leaving
- What for
- Deleting your account revokes Gmail access and deletes all data at SortWerk. On request it also removes its labels.

Questions
What people want to know before signing in. Anything left open? Write to us.
- Is the dashboard in English?
- Yes. The dashboard follows the language of your browser, and you can switch between English and German in the settings at any time. If you sign up in English, the folders SortWerk creates are English too, such as «SortWerk/Unsure». The legal texts are available in English too; the German version prevails. Sorting works in any language: SortWerk understands emails and folder names in English just as well.
- Google shows a warning when I sign in. Is that normal?
- Yes. SortWerk has not been verified by Google yet; until then you see «Google hasn't verified this app». Click «Advanced» and «Go to sortwerk.ch» to reach the normal consent screen. Verification follows before the public launch.
- Can SortWerk delete or send emails?
- No. It sets and removes labels. If you want, it takes sorted emails out of the inbox, like «Archive» in Gmail; the email stays in its folder. Spam that Jev is sure about (75 % by default) goes to Gmail's spam folder. Gmail empties it after 30 days; until then it can be undone.
- What does Jev see of my emails?
- Normally the sender, the subject and Gmail's short snippet of about 200 characters, with «Minimal» only sender and subject. Only if you switch on «Detailed» yourself and agree, the start of the email text up to 1,500 characters, without links, addresses, numbers, quotes and signature. Never attachments. Jev only returns the folder and, if you switch on the reply labels, whether a reply is needed.
- How often does SortWerk get it right?
- That depends on your folders and the sentences that describe them. Whatever falls below your threshold lands in «Unsure» instead of the wrong place. There is no guarantee for every single email.
- I have several Gmail addresses. Do I need several subscriptions?
- No. With BYOK or Pro you connect up to four more addresses, with Team as many as you like, for $2 per month each; with Team every one from the 15th costs only $1. Every address has its own folders and settings; you switch between them at the top right of the dashboard. Everything is billed in the same subscription.
- Does it work with Google Workspace?
- Yes. In some companies IT has to allow the app first. If sign-in is blocked, ask them or us.
- Does SortWerk work with Outlook or other mailboxes?
- Not yet: today it works with Gmail and Google Workspace. We are working on Microsoft Outlook and Microsoft 365 right now. Mailboxes via IMAP follow, such as iCloud Mail, GMX, web.de, Bluewin, Yahoo Mail, Infomaniak and addresses on your own domain. Want to be among the first? Write to us.
- How do I get rid of SortWerk again?
- You cancel a subscription in the dashboard under «Subscription» at the end of the paid period; after that, Free applies again. To leave completely, cancel the subscription and then choose «Delete account» in the settings. You can also revoke access in your Google account at any time.
